EquaGel is a dry-polymer gel, with an almost rubbery feel. It provides unbelievable tensile and compression strength with incredible durability
The most outstanding feature of this cushion is its column buckling. This refers to the way EquaGel performs under pressure. Each wall of gel is only capable of supporting a light load, and when that threshold is exceeded, the gel wall buckles into the hollow area between walls and passes the weight to the surrounding walls for support. This feature of buckling and weight passing happens instantly and repeatedly until the maximum surface area of pressing weight is evenly supported by largely equalized pressure
Each cushion uses a two stage buckling approach. The top layer of the cushion is made up of a small grid of gel that is extra sensitive to pressure needs, and is the comfort layer. This layer distorts easily and allows the parts of the user that need extra support to sink further into the lower layer whilst retaining good posture. The lower layer, the support layer, consists of a larger and thicker walled gel grid
The pelvic area of the cushion is contoured to more evenly distribute the user's weight than a flat cushion
